While at Uber, my work has focused on micromobility and designing for the JUMP brand. Specifically, I have owned the physical touch points that guide a user's interaction with our bikes and scooters. Whether it's instructional labels, a dashboard interface, or handlebar controls for a custom scooter, they need to be considered and align with the ideal user journey. As part of my work, I collaborated closely with the digital design team to ensure our hardware and our app come together to form the best possible experience.
UX Design, Graphic Design
While at Uber I was excited to do both ID and UX work for JUMP. Unfortunately, it is unlikely I’ll be able to share any of my latest UX work with the public. I still think it’s important to show examples of the UX work I participated in. So I gave myself a little homework to work through some user flows for an app that helps users access information about organized sports leagues. I also liked the opportunity to brush up on Adobe XD since we used Figma at Uber.
UX Design, Graphic Design, Branding
At Flex, our team developed connectivity software solutions (think Bluetooth) that alleviate the burden from brands and allow them to get to market faster. These solutions required customer interfaces to manage users, software, and metrics. Paired with my knowledge of Adobe CC, I picked up Adobe XD so I could more effectively design the UX and UI for this customer portal.
This type of product offering was new for Flex, so it was to communicate our team’s capabilities. I designed the team’s branding, communication tools, and a marketing website to inform potential partners of what our software could do.
Industrial Design, Packaging Design, Photography
When the market was only Fitbits and Pebbles, Olio sought to make a smartwatch that had the elegance of a traditional timepiece. I worked closely with engineers to ensure the intent of this design was retained throughout production. This included trips to China to evaluate manufacturing standards.
As the sole designer at Olio, I oversaw the entire consumer experience for Olio. This extended beyond the product design and included packaging, branding, marketing, and photography.
UX/UI Design, Web Design, App Design
Olio’s watch UI was centered around time. The watch face was designed with complications that overlaid relevant data for the user. In addition, the digital assistant showed you what was important from “earlier”, “later”, or “controls” for what’s happening “now”. Like traditional watches, each collection was designed with a bespoke watch face that married the digital and the physical.
Along side the watch was a phone app with controls for your digital assistant. This was designed to be a simple and intuitive interface and came with a first-time-use guide for easy setup.
I also designed the website to market and sell Olio’s smartwatch. As a custom-developed website, it was fun to work closely with developers to execute our site with limitless possibilities.
Industrial Design
At Movado I was part of a team focused on two of their licensed brands: Tommy Hilfiger and Lacoste. We worked in seasonal design cycles to refresh product lines according to fashion trends. This meant having an understanding of current/future trends and translating that into new and exciting designs. Lastly, I would vividly communicate those designs to manufacturing partners for production and review samples to ensure accuracy. It was incredibly rewarding to see my designs evolve and make their way to market.
Industrial Design
As part of Design Philadelphia, Cadence watches ran a competition to design the next watch in their product line. I seized this opportunity to immerse myself in the Philadelphia design community and try my hand at watch design. After winning the competition, I was thrilled to continue consulting with Cadence to help execute my design. Little did I know this would be the starting point to my work with watches at Movado and Olio.
Packaging Design
At MeadWestvaco I was responsible for generating innovative packaging concepts our sales team could use bring in clients. As part of my work, I developed a patented opening feature that retained product security and created ideal shelf presence.
